Poson – A Celebration of Enlightenment and Heritage

Poson, one of the most sacred Buddhist festivals in Sri Lanka, commemorates the historic arrival of Buddhism to the island
in the 3rd century BCE by Arahant Mahinda, son of Emperor Ashoka of India. More than just a religious observance,
Poson is a celebration of spiritual awakening and cultural identity.

Observed on the full moon day of June, this revered occasion highlights the profound impact of the Dhamma on Sri Lankan life and values.
At our temple in the UK, Poson is marked with devotion, Dhamma sermons, meditation, traditional rituals, and community gatherings.
offering all generations an opportunity to reflect on the teachings of the Buddha and proudly preserve our Sri Lankan Buddhist heritage abroad.

In celebration of the upcoming Poson Festival, the children of our Dhamma School,
together with their parents, will be presenting a special drama and Bhakti Gee program.

We kindly invite you and your family to join us for this meaningful, cultural and spiritual evening.

Your presence would be a great honour and encouragement to the participants.
